Bob first qualified as a mechanic in England, in 1977, but that was not the beginning of his passion for cars. Even before then, he lived and breathed cars! Bob worked in independent garages for a few years, but really found his niche in life when he joined the Royal Automobile Club as a breakdown mechanic. He was continually one of the Top Patrols in the company; number 23 out of 50! The RAC gave him the opportunity to do what he loved best - the opportunity to work on all makes of cars and at the same time gain a massive database of experience. Bob's work ethic with the RAC was to give the customer his very best efforts at getting them back on the road and he was always willing to go the extra mile to do this. His greatest satisfaction came from attending a desperate customer at a roadside breakdown and seeing the relief on their face when he resolved the problem, without them having to be towed.
Bob was also the 'face' of the RAC at Silverstone Motor Racing Circuit, home to the British Grand Prix. He always hosted the hospitality tent to meet and greet the VIP's attending the races. Bob is a very traditional 'old fashioned' mechanic in that he prefers to repair a fault rather than simply bolt on new and expensive components. He is also very aware that customers are cautious that the garage will take advantage of their limited knowledge of cars and 'rip them off'. To try to reassure them that he would never do this, Bob is always willing to spend time with the customer explaining the problem fully and discussing the most economical way of resolving it. Because Bob has worked extensively in the UK he has an in depth knowledge of British and European, as well as American vehicles. Currently Bob holds twenty one certificates detailing his qualifications, including certificates from Lucas and Jaguar, and he qualified as an Auto Electrician in 1983. In 2004 Bob added the ASE official recognition to his CV. However, Bob remains fired with enthusiasm for his profession and is committed to an ongoing training programme. If you have a problem with your vehicle, why not drop it by the shop and let Bob take a look? You will be talking with a multi-skilled, highly qualified, and very traditional mechanic who is determined to give an honest, value for money service.
