About UsScottie Reid and Ron Harris are the principals behind the company. Scottie started working as an apprentice carpenter in his home country of Scotland. He grew up in Edinburough, Scotland and left to find his fortune at the tender age of 15, immigrating first to Canada and then to Chicago, Illinois. In 1971 he moved to Scottsdale and started working out of his station wagon and a corner of a local lumber yard. Ron joined Scottie in 1997.
Ron joined Scottie in 1997. This move to work with his hands was a welcome grounding for Ron. Ron grew up as a military brat and went to school in Germany. While his family was stationed in Germany, he traveled extensively throughout Europe. His military service was in the US Navy, assigned to the Submarine Service, where he was stationed in Spain and Sardinia. After a brief career in the Motion Picture and Recording industry, Ron returned to his passion for travel and joined the Airline industry. During his twenty year airline career, he was managing director of International sales & marketing responsible for 17 offices throughout Europe, Asia, the South Pacific and the Middle East. Ron has obviously traveled a great deal and has logged visits to over 170 destinations worldwide.
Scottie Reid was honored by the Phoenix Home and Gardens magazine naming him a "Master of the Southwest" in 1990. This recognition was due to the craftsmanship, attention to detail and uniqueness of his body of work up to that time. Since then, Scottie Reid's Southwest Designs has grown but purposefully maintained a sense of individual attention to each project.
Our work is our passion. We continually strive to better ourselves with each project that is commissioned. We try to exceed not only our clients' expectations, but our own as well. We work very closely with the interior decorators and their clients to get the concept, design and implementation of their project right every time. Our attention to the smallest detail is paramount. We attempt to produce the best that can be made by hand.
Our approach is to be hands on with the project every step of the way. Each project and every client is our most important.
Our clients appreciate the commitment we have to their satisfaction during design and construction up through and even after delivery of their project. Many of our clients are previous clients wishing to have additional and/or complementary pieces added to their homes or their children's homes.
