Tony Christensen and Erik Hansen opened the first Copenhagen Imports furniture showroom in Phoenix, AZ. back in 1970.

That decision was based more on idealism and a passion for good clean design than actual business sense or market studies. Other local furniture store owners shook their heads and said, "That stuff will never sell. Six months and they're out." It was quite to the contrary as the modern teak furniture did indeed sell. In fact, it sold so well that Copenhagen soon added stores in Tempe, Tucson, and then in Scottsdale. Copenhagen's growth continued, moving into Texas with the opening of El Paso and then San Antonio and Austin.

It is still "passion for design" that drives the business, only today our collection has changed to include, not only Danish design, but also good designs from around the world. Copenhagen represents many of the internationally recognized names in the industry, such as Ekornes of Norway, Skovby of Denmark, Schillig of Germany, Seltz of France, Natuzzi of Italy, Elite Manufacturing of USA, Lafer of Brazil, Cellini of Indonesia, Slate Vision of South Africa, 6T9 Collection of Singapore, and many more.

With all the change, one thing remains constant, only good design and quality finds its way to any Copenhagen showroom. We consider ourselves fortunate in being able to make our living doing what we love to do; namely delivering to you, our valued customer, modern, functional furniture of clean and elegant design that comforts the body and soothes the soul.
