CSAT Program
The CSAT® (Certified Sex Addiction Therapist) program offers premier training, resources and support for addiction practitioners. Founded by leading addiction expert Dr. Patrick Carnes, the CSAT program was developed after years of extensive experience, research and training in the field of addiction therapy. The goal of the training and certification programs is to educate and empower practitioners to deliver a new level of treatment for people suffering from addictive behaviors. Using a cutting-edge, task-centered approach, CSAT candidates must complete 4 modules of training, in addition to required readings and assignments, along with clinical supervision.
Through IITAP, CSAT-certified practitioners receive ongoing support for their practice after program completion with:

CSAT Prerequisites
To become a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT), a practitioner must have a Masters-level degree, be fully licensed or certified (depending on country/state) and have at least 5 years of experience in the counseling or psychotherapy field. Note: These requirements must be met at the time of application for FINAL certification rather than at the commencement of training. CSATs are also required to pass a background check and must sign a statement of compliance with ethical guidelines.
ASAT (Associate Sex Addiction Therapist) Prerequisites
To become an ASAT, a practitioner must have a Bachelor's level degree but does not have to meet the CSAT criteria. Please contact an IITAP team member if you have questions.
