The Saguaro Story

The Lansing family has been a fixture in Apache Junction since 1991, when they purchased the original Post Office building and turned it into Saguaro Family Fitness. Claire, a licensed social worker, and her husband Cornelius, an M.D. and Psychiatrist, had witnessed the needs of the people of Apache Junction and the surrounding communities. They started Saguaro Family Fitness as a sanctuary for those who needed a physical outlet and wanted to focus on their overall well-being and vitality. The facility quickly became a place where locals and winter visitors could come to better themselves physically and emotionally, while forming relationships with other people in their community. Over the years, the Lansings have adapted to the growth and needs of Apache Junction, while always remaining focused on their mission, “To Teach Principles and Practices of Exercise and Lifestyle Habits”. They have also never been afraid to try new things to better serve the people of the town they live in and love. 

Saguaro Family Fitness continues to be owned and managed by the Lansing family. Son, Phil, manages the maintenance of the facility and equipment. Phil’s wife, Alichia, is the fitness center manager. Daughter, Christie, has a Doctorate in Physical Therapy and is in charge of Physical and Aquatic Therapy services and Claire still oversees the day to day operations.

Saguaro Fitness and Rehabilitation's fitness center contains a weight room, group fitness classes, indoor pool, spa, and sauna. We offer personal training for those in need of individualized direction. Please contact us to see if your health insurance will pay for your fitness membership. We currently accept Silver Sneakers, Silver and Fit, and Optum Fitness (Renew Active).

Aquatic Center
We are happy to provide the only indoor pool in Apache Junction. The salt water pool is heated to 88 degrees and the spa to 104 degrees. We offer multiple aquatic group fitness classes throughout the week, as well as designated times for Lap swimming. There are separate Men's and Women's locker rooms with showers and changing areas. The pool is ADA compliant with a chair lift rated to hold up to 400lbs.
